Abstract
- ;
- The project required the involvement of multiple stakeholders in Belgium. Some of these collaborations were initiated while paving the way for enhanced future data exchanges and collaborations within other projects. ;
- Methodologies and tools were developed to increase the reproducibility of the analyses and to decrease the risk of errors due to miscoding or the collection of variables and facilitating future work. ;
- We propose a reduced set of indicators for inclusion, as the validity of some indicators is questioned and there are some concerns regarding the compatibility and description of some of the proposed definitions. ;
- We propose an easy to read scoring system to evaluate the quality and comparability of the different indicators across the member states. ;
- There is an urgent need for a National Health Information System: linking or integrating these existing digital collections of various sources to create a combined or distributed database. ;
- A unified nationally representative primary care data system that allows the use of data based on the EMR of the Belgian GPs is of eminent importance, and could be established by building on current initiatives. ;
